It’s fair to see why the sustainability movement is intimidating to some. The topic of our climate crisis is rarely a fun conversation to have, and sustainable products carry some of that stigma with them.
There’s this feeling of judgment or guilt if you don’t compost all of your food or bike to work or if you secretly prefer a plastic straw or accidentally leave your reusable bags at home. Not that the judgment is actually there from other strangers at checkout when you ask for 3 paper bags, but there’s the feeling that it might be.
We’re going to say what you already know but need to hear—no one can be 100% sustainable 100% of the time. And that’s okay.
It’s time to let go of the guilt and judgment. The sustainability movement is not supposed to be scary and intimidating like the cool table in a high school cafeteria. We’re all in this climate crisis together, and the more people who choose to live a more eco-conscious life, the better. Let’s not make enemies when we desperately need more friends.
When we first created Skoy in 2007, our goal was a product that was better than anything else on the market, with the environment in mind. And we’ve continued to practice that goal year after year, product after product.
But we also aim to bring joy into your home. Our name, Skoy, comes from the Swedish word, Skoj which means “just for fun”. Our flower logo and bright colors make kitchens more colorful and playful. It’s a reminder to find joy and have fun—even when doing the dishes.
Sustainable products can be just for fun! Let’s ditch the uppity rap they get and remember to find joy in living an eco-conscious life.
